Antique French Mantle Ewer

This is a large and ornate antique solid bronze French mantle ewer mounted on a solid marble base from around 1910. This ewer freatures an exquisite amount of neoclassical detail throughout. The scrolled handle feature a Putti on top where it meets the ewer body. The body of the ewer itself features the detailed face of Bacchus (The Greek God of Wine and Merriment) under the spout. Extensive designs as well as floral aspects on it. This piece has an overall height of 22 inches and is 11 inches at it\'s widest. The marble base is 8\" in diameter. It has a total weight of just over 15 pounds. Mantle ewers were originally part of a garniture set. They were intended to be displayed on the mantle, typically on either side of a clock. Note that the metal mouths are not open, these were never designed to hold liquid. They were designed strictly as a decorative piece only.
